Don’t forget to breathe

Rangipo Intake Road – Te Ika-a-Māui Aotearoa
Captured on the drive south to Wellington, I always feel drawn to this place. I brewed a coffee and reflected on the juxtaposition of nature and concrete. I can sense the imposition of the Ministry of Works crews that built this hydro scheme on the landscape, the uprights for the flow gates standing like forgotten sentinels.
The rushing water reminds me to stop and feel the chill, damp air — to notice the stillness that always surrounds me when I pause and breathe.
